Writing Competition on Climate Change with National Botanic Gardens

The National Botanic Gardens, the Irish Writers Centre and the Five Lamps Arts Festival have launched a Flash Fiction and Creative Non-Fiction competition themed around Climate Change.

Writers are being asked to embrace the concept through short new pieces which reflect or illustrate the subject in an innovative and relevant manner. To help inspire potential entrants, the Botanic Gardens will be organising a special free tour of the grounds led by an experienced member of staff who will ponder the impact climate change may have on the future.

This tour will take place on Sunday, February 3 at 2.00pm. While it is not a prerequisite or a condition for entering the competition, the Botanic Gardens encourage participation, saying the experience will be invaluable in helping to shape ideas.

The deadline for submissions is February 27 at 5pm. On April 4, a showcase event will be held in the Botanic Gardens from 7:30pm-9:30pm where winners will read their work alongside commissioned writers.
