Winterland Festival to Light Up Wexford This Christmas

Jolly Old St Nick is coming to Wexford Quay and he is bringing all his elves with him.

This December, Santa’s North Pole Experience will captivate young and old. The magical event is part of the Wexford Winterland Festival, which organisers say will transport families from the county to Father Christmas’ grotto.

Stroll through the Magic Forest with snow covered trees glistening in the moonlight and visit the Elves Village where children can post their letters in the post box, visit the bedroom of Dozy Elf, take a photograph at the North Pole and help the elves prepare the reindeers’ stables for the busy season ahead.

Speaking by phone from the North Pole recently, Santa Claus commented, “I can’t wait to return this year and meet all the boys and girls of Wexford again!”

Organisers say the Elves Workshop is usually top secret but this very special visit allows attendees to meet the Grand High Elf and help mend and make toys. Finally Patch the Elf will bring families, individually, to meet and receive a gift from the one and only Mr Claus!

Santa’s North Pole Experience runs from November 30 until December 23. Also, taking place over the same time is The Christmas Express.  Little ones can hop aboard the festive train at the Bullring. On the 15-minute journey, they get to see the gorgeous decorations strewn across Wexford town while listening to Christmas tales.

Christmas is also the time to get your skates on. Wexford on Ice returns November 24 to the Quay. Running until January 6, organisers say this year there is lots of new features including group offers, birthday party invites and a few surprises for skaters and non-skaters to enjoy.

The Festival will be launched with the Winterland Parade trailing through the streets of Wexford. The march will end with the switching on of the town’s Christmas lights.  Both take place in Wexford Town Centre November 24.

Santa’s North Pole Experience, The Christmas Express and Wexford on Ice can all be booked here or by calling 053-9199199 or at the Lantern Box Office at 1 North Main St.
