Waterford Film Festival Starts This Friday
The 12th Annual Waterford Film Festival will take place this weekend from November 30 to December 2.
Over the course of the three days, 55 movies will be screened in Central Arts. There are 5 short film programmes, each one running for approximately 100 minutes in length.
20 of the shorts are foreign coming from USA, UK, Japan, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Malta, Turkey and Australia with the mix of genres including drama, horror, comedy, thrillers, experimental, historic, music and documentaries. There will also be a blend of first time directors, professionals and award winning films.
The festival also runs a screenplay competition with Waterford FilmLab. This year there are 25 finalists. On the last day of the festival there is an awards presentation where the overall winner in both the film and screenplay competition will be announced. A prize includes a beautiful trophy designed by Waterford Crystal.
Every event of the three day festival is a BYOB event. However, thanks to sponsors YellowBelly Beer and Legacy Irish Cider, organisers promise free drinks to be given away to every ticket holder.
