Virgin Media DIFF Adds Films to Line-Up

The Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival 2019 (Virgin Media DIFF 2019) will take place between February 20 and March 3 – showcasing over 125 events across 12 days.

On top of special guests like Stephen Merchant, Matt Bomer, Jessie Buckley and Josh Hartnett and some highly anticipated Irish premieres, the festival has added three more films to its line up. Most notable is Ben is Back, starring Oscar winner Julia Roberts and Oscar nominee Lucas Hedges.

Receiving strong reviews, the film follows a mother who tries to help her addict son after he returns home from rehab. It will screen at Odeon Point Village, February 28 at 6:15.

The festival will also host the world premiere of A Girl from Mogadishu at a gala screening in the same venue, February 22 at 8:30. Directed by the Irish Mary McGuckian, the drama is based on the testimony of Ifrah Ahmed, who – having made the extraordinary journey to escape war-torn Somalia – emerged as one of the world’s foremost international activists against gender based violence. Oscar nominee Barkhad Abdi co-stars.

The third film added to the programme is The Wedding Guest from acclaimed English director Michael Winterbottom. Taking place at Odeon Point Village on February 24 at 4:00, the tense thriller stars Oscar nominee Dev Patel as a mysterious British Muslim man on his journey across Pakistan and India.
