Video: The Nutcracker on Stephen’s Green

Ballet Ireland have been in Stephen’s Green recently dealing with a bit of a rodent problem, as you can see in the video above.

They also stop off at the Gaiety Theatre ahead of their production of The Nutcracker, which will be staged there from 16 – 19 November.

The Nutcracker is one of the world’s favourite ballets. This timeless classic, complete with glittering costumes and Tchaikovsky’s beloved & sumptuous score, takes audiences on a wondrous adventure full of quintessential Christmas magic.

It’s Christmas Eve. A marvellous party is taking place where the mysterious Uncle Drosselmeyer brings gifts for all the children.

But when midnight strikes, very strange things start to happen. The Christmas tree grows to incredible heights and Clara’s magical Christmas gift, her Nutcracker, leads her into a fairy-tale world.

With her heroic Nutcracker at her side, Clara defeats the Mouse King and his army of mice, and they journey to the Land of Snow and the Kingdom of Sweets together.

It looks like the Mouse King was loose on Stephen’s Green but Clara seems to have managed to contain him for now. Best get down to the Gaiety next month to make sure he stays under wraps though.
