The Specials Announced as Trinity Summer Series 2020 Headliners

After three sold out concerts in the Olympia Theatre, The Specials are back with a headline show at the Summer Series at Trinity College Dublin on Saturday, July 4, 2020.

The English band are best known for iconic tracks ‘Ghost Town’ and ‘A Message to You Rudy’. Releasing their self-titled LP in 1979, the group’s rise to fame was swift. In just two years, their brand of ska infused with punk clocked seven hit singles – including two number ones – two hit albums and sell-out tours.

This year has been busy for The Specials too. Their record Encore, the group’s first new music for 37 years, was released in February and reached number one in the UK album charts. 2019 also marked the 40th anniversary of the formation of the band.

Also set to headline Trinity’s Summer Series is Irish band Walking on Cars who Travel Ireland recently spoke to in regards headlining Dublin’s New Year’s Festival. Read that article here. They will perform at Trinity on Friday, July 3, 2020.

Tickets for The Specials’ Trinity gig cost €59.50, while Walking on Cars’ cost €49.90. Both go on sale Friday, November 15 at 9am from Ticketmaster.ie and outlets nationwide.
