Subtitle European Film Festival Returns to Dun Laoghaire

The Subtitle Spotlight European Film Festival is coming back to the Pavilion Theatre in Dun Laoghaire from Jan 31 – Feb 3, inviting audiences to see a different type of cinema.

With a total of ten titles, organisers say there will be something to suit all tastes. Finnish film Unknown Soldier will open the festival. The best ever selling movie from the country, it centres on a platoon of ordinary Finnish soldiers in the battlefield between Finland and the Soviet Union during World War II.

The festival features movies of many different genres. For drama, there is the German refugee crisis film Styx, Danish gender and relationship exploration A Horrible Woman and French factory-set story At War.

Meanwhile for fans of thrillers, there is the politically charged The Realm from Spain and murder mystery The Benefit of the Doubt from Belgium. For something lighter, the festival will also be screening French comedies C’est la vie! and The Trouble with You.
