Saoirse Ronan Announced As Fastnet Film Festival Guest

The Fastnet Film Festival, taking place in Schull, West Cork from Wednesday, May 22 to Sunday, May 26, was launched last night (April 25) at a ‘Cinematographer’s Party’ at The Crane Lane Theatre, Cork.

Speakers at the event included festival chairperson John Kelleher and award-winning director Carmel Winters. It was there it was revealed that Oscar-nominee Saoirse Ronan will be in attendance at Fastnet.

The Mary Queen of Scots star joins the festival’s long list of special guests. It was previously announced Roddy Doyle would host a scriptwriter’s workshop and take part in a Q&A. Meanwhile, others confirmed for appearances at Fastnet include Paddy Breathnach, Carmel Winters, Moe Dunford, Sarah Greene, Jim Sheridan, Ed Guiney, Hazel Doupe and many more.

Screening at the festival will be 13 feature length films and 300 shorts. Fastnet’s World Cinema Programme will focus on Iceland, comprising of three features and a short film programme curated by the Icelandic Film Institute.

The Fastnet Film Festival is a major showcase for short film production and has been held in high regard on a local, national and international level for several years now.  The 2019 event will run a series of seminars, masterclasses and workshops covering sound, screenwriting, casting, auditioning, score composition, documentary film making, creating content on mobile phones and more.
