Registration open for Clonakilty Waterfront Marathon

Registration is now open for the seventy annual Clonakilty Waterfront Marathon.

Join in on the fun in West Cork on 3 December on a stunning, testing course that takes in ocean views and gentle hills.

Registration is open until 22 November for this end of season race, in the friendly seaside town of Clonakilty. Set at an ideal date to test your limits – the Clonakilty Waterfront offers distances for all levels and ages: 10K, Half Marathon and the Full Marathon.

There are top class services available to participants, including a tec top, race certificate, chip timing, plentiful water stations, energy stations for full marathon runners, free massages, free use of shower, sauna and pool at the Quality Hotel, music, a great atmosphere and lots, lots more.

Runners find they are in peak condition at the end of the running season and a personal best is often achieved so the Clonakilty Waterfront Marathon is a great place to test yourself and see if you can achieve your own personal best.

Each year, the marathon organisers design unique cast medals acknowledging inspirational people and their achievements in their fields.

This year, four incredible women who have made great contributions to the sport will be honoured.

The medals will feature; the first woman to ever run the Boston Marathon Bobbi Gibb, on her 50thanniversary of finishing; the inspirational Boston Marathon bombing survivor Adrianne Haslett; world marathon record holder Paula Radcliffe, and Boston Marathon winner 1968 and Runners World Editor at Large since 1978 Amby Burfoot.

Burfoot, Gibb and Haslett will be in Clonakilty for the marathon. They will appear at a free discussion event at 6pm at the Quality Hotel, on Friday 2 December, discussing their own achievements and they will also be at the starting line the following day to kick off this fantastic event.

Register before Tuesday November 22nd  at www.runclon.ie
