Popular German Travel Show Films in Ireland

Ireland will be seen by more than 900,000 people across Germany later this year as Tourism Ireland, in conjunction with Fáilte Ireland, invited a popular travel programme called Grenzenlos – Die Welt Entdecken (meaning ‘Without borders – discover the world’) to film here this week.

The crew has been shooting in various locations across the island. These include in Kinsale with Martin Shanahan of the well-known Fishy Fishy restaurant, at the annual Omey Races in Connemara, as well as in Lisdoonvarna with the famous matchmaker Willie Daly.

The resulting programme will air to around 900,000 people on Sat.1 – a major national TV channel – this autumn. It will also be available on the series’ YouTube channel. Speaking about the show, Peter Nash, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for Central Europe, said in a statement: “The programme will inspire German travellers to put Ireland on their holiday ‘wish list’ for 2020.”

“Television and film are recognised as strong influencers for prospective holidaymakers. Tourism Ireland regularly works with TV and production companies around the world to facilitate the making of travel and lifestyle programmes and films about Ireland.”

A crew from Sat.1 also filmed in Ireland for Grenzenlos – Die Welt Entdecken in May. To view that programme – all about the Wild Atlantic Way – click here.

Germany is the third-largest source of visitors to the Emerald Isle and one of the largest outbound travel markets in the world. In 2018, Ireland welcomed around 818,000 German arrivals.
