Massive Attack’s Mezzanine XX1 Tour Announced for 3Arena
British trip hop group Massive Attack will play Dublin’s 3Arena February 24, 2019, as part of a one-off tour celebrating and putting a new twist on their classic 1998 album Mezzanine.
Mezzanine XX1 will be a totally new audio / visual production designed by member Robert Del Naja and featuring the band’s frequent collaborator Elizabeth Fraser. More guests for the show will be announced at a later date
In 2000, Q magazine placed Mezzanine at number 15 on its list of the 100 Greatest British Albums Ever. In 2003, the record was ranked number 412 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. In 2013, it was placed at 215 on NME‘s list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
The new show will re-imagine Mezzanine 21 years on from its release using custom audio reconstructed from the original samples and influences. “It’s going to be a one off piece of work; our own personalised nostalgia nightmare head trip,” said Del Naja in a statement.
The band will tour Europe with the full list of dates listed below. Presale tickets will be available for selected shows from 10am tomorrow, October 31.
Tickets will then go on general sale at 10am on November 2 from Ticketmaster. Prices go from €49.50.
