La Boheme comes to the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre this month
Ireland’s leading star soprano Celine Byrne takes the lead role for The Novaya Opera Theatre of Moscow’s production of La Boheme at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre from 30 November until 4 December.
One of the world’s most popular operas, La Boheme originally premiered in Turin in 1896 and since then it has become one the most frequently performed operas. Celine Burne Ireland’s will star in the leading role of Mimi in three of the five performances, with the Opera Theatre’s own star performing in two.
Puccini’s opera, La Boheme, is an exciting story about the talented and noble inhabitants of The Latin Quarter of Paris and features characters obsessed by art, creation and love. The Latin Quarter in this production is placed in one of the most interesting, hot, and even spicy, of atmospheres – Paris in the late 1940s – an exciting period with death and horror left behind and hope and new life in prospect.
Puccini’s music is sublime, with several famous arias. The Novaya Opera Theatre’s production of the romantic and tragic story wowed critics at the premiere in Moscow last year and this performance is sure to make a lasting impression on Dublin audiences way beyond their departure from the theatre.
Tickets on sale now from Ticketmaster, with prices starting from €35.
