Alliance Francaise Dublin to Host Evening With French Singer Dominique A

Based in Kildare Street, Alliance Francaise Dublin is set to welcome acclaimed French musician Dominique A to the venue for a special evening on Wednesday, May 29.

Starting as the quintessential independent singer/songwriter of the early 1990’s, Dominique A gained national and international recognition, critical acclaim and many prestigious awards over the past 20 years. He has collaborated with many artists such as Françoiz Breut, Jeanne Balibar, Jane Birkin, and Étienne Daho, and has influenced many others.

His movement away from the constraints of chanson (lyric-driven French songs) paved the way for a whole new generation of musicians. He showed how it was possible to use the French language in the alternative pop/rock genre.

Dominique A’s records such as La Fossette (1992) or La mémoire neuve (1995) are today regarded as classics. Billed as a unique chance to learn more about his music, writings and views, admission for Alliance Francaise Dublin’s event is free.
