3 Dun Laoghaire Harbour Concerts Announced For June Bank Holiday Weekend

Three summer concerts have been announced for Dun Laoghaire Harbour on the June Bank Holiday Weekend featuring headliners Suede, Supergrass, and Toots and the Maytals on their last ever tour.

On Saturday, May 30, one of the most groundbreaking bands of the 90s, Suede (pictured), are set to return to Dublin. Currently touring their classic record Coming Up, the Britpop act established themselves as one of the UK’s biggest and most important rock bands with their catalogue of hit singles including ‘Animal Nitrate’, ‘The Beautiful Ones’, ‘Trash’, ‘She’s In Fashion’ and ”The Wild Ones’.

Joining Suede are Peter Hook and The Light. Fronted by Peter Hook, former bassist and co-founder of Joy Division and New Order, the group have been touring for eight years and performing songs from his previous bands.

Live favourites Ash, celebrating a career spanning 25 years, will also support Suede. The Northern Irish rockers are best known for hits ‘Girl From Mars’, ‘Burn Baby Burn’, ‘Shining Light, ‘A Life Less Ordinary’ and ‘Candy’. Today (Feb 14), Ash released best-of record Teenage Wildlife: 25 Years of Ash.

On Sunday, May 31, Supergrass will take to the stage. Fans can expect a mesmerizing set, with tracks from their chart topping career including ‘Richard III’, ‘Moving’, ‘Alright’, ‘Caught By The Fuzz’ and more. The group’s best-of package Supergrass: The Strange Ones 1994 – 2008 was released last month.

Supporting Supergrass on the Sunday are new wave post-punk legends Echo and the Bunnymen and multi platinum selling New York City trio Fun Lovin’ Criminals.

Monday, June 1 will see Grammy winners Toots and the Maytals perform at Dun Laoghaire Harbour as part of their final ever tour. The Jamaican group brought reggae to the masses with some of the biggest and pioneering hits in the genre. In fact, their 1968 single ‘Do The Reggay’ is credited as the first song ever to feature the word ‘reggae’, giving the form of music its name.

Also performing on the Monday night are ska-punk band The Selecter and fellow Reggae legend and Wailers producer Lee “Scratch” Perry.
