Star of Oscar Winner The Shape of Water to Appear at Dublin Comic Con
Doug Jones, who starred as the Amphibian Man in last year’s Academy Award Best Picture winner The Shape of Water, will be one of the special guests at the Spring Edition of Dublin Comic Con 2019.
Mostly known for his work under prosthetic make-up, he is a frequent collaborator with filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro – appearing in six of his films. These include big parts such as Abe Sapien in the Hellboy franchise and as the iconic Faun in the critically acclaimed Pan’s Labyrinth.
Meanwhile, in Del Toro’s The Shape of Water, he played a humanoid sea creature kept prisoner in a secret government facility. Over the course of the film, he forms a romantic relationship with a female janitor played by Sally Hawkins.
In addition to his work with Del Toro, Jones has also appeared in blockbusters such as Batman Returns, Men in Black II, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer and Ouija: Origin of Evil. He currently stars as Commander Saru in Netflix’s Star Trek: Discovery.
The Spring addition of Comic Con will take place March 9-10. Other guests include Irish animator Sean Cunningham, Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s James Marsters, Star Trek: The Next Generations’ Jonathan Frakes and Power Ranger Jason David Frank.
Previously announced for the event was Guardian of the Galaxy Pom Klementieff and Walking Dead actor Michael Cudlitz. However, both backed out with the former to appear instead at the Summer Edition of the Con.
