This famous old pub is steeped in history and has strong literary connections. The pub is famously mentioned in James Joyce’s Ulysses and Joyce was a regular patron when he lived in Dublin. Davy Byrne’s literary connections would continue down through the years with the likes of James Stephens, Liam O’Flaherty, Padraig O’Conaire and in later times Myles na gCopaleen, Patrick Kavanagh, Anthony Cronin and Brendan Behan all frequenting the pub. In more recent times, Davy Byrne’s has become renowned for their quality pub-food, with seafood being a speciality.
