16 Million Americans Hear All About Ireland
Six popular American radio presenters have been visiting the Emerald Isle as guests of Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.
The group have a combined audience of some 16 million listeners or potential US holidaymakers for Ireland. Their fans have been keeping up with the radio presenters’ travels here via social media.
Each of the presenters has been conducting interviews throughout the visit with local tourism operators and personalities. This includes at places like the Book of Kells, the Burren, Kate’s Cottage in The Claddagh, Westport House, Slieve League and the Glencolmcille Folk Village Museum. The various interviews will air in the US later this month.
Alison Metcalfe, Tourism Ireland’s Head of North America and Australia, said in a statement: “We were delighted to invite these radio presenters to visit. They will help us spread the word among American travellers about the many things to see and do on a vacation in Ireland.”
According to Metcalfe, Tourism Ireland has prioritised North America as a market offering a strong return on investment. In 2019, the marketing body aim to surpass the record-breaking performance of 2018 and to grow revenue from North American visitors by 8 per cent to €1.99 billion, generated by 2.17 million visitors.”
